SummarySonja is the Early Stage Researcher at Institute for Forecasting (Slovak Academy of Sciences), in Bratislava. Her work is oriented to institutional changes in governance and biodiversity conservation policy in countries of transition in Central Eastern Europe. She is specially interested in study of interaction between institutions of forestry and biodiversity governance. In previous studies she has mostly developed academic expertise in natural sciences. Sonja holds a diploma in Ecology and Environmental Protection. She finished multidisciplinary studies and obtained her diploma (2006) at Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Novi Sad (Serbia). Her final work treated the field of water monitoring and bio-monitoring. The goal of the work was to give an assessment of ecological status to the river Ponjavica (Serbia), in accordance with Water Framework Directive. The work was as well the part of a project “Hydro-geological Study of River Ponjavica”, which was performed by National Committee of International Association for Danube Research (IAD) for Serbia and Monte Negro. Her work supervised Mrs. Ivana Teodorovic, PhD, the professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences (Novi Sad), who is also the president of National Committee of IAD for Serbia and Monte Negro. During her studies Sonja became a member of “Academic Society for Nature Study and Conservation, Novi Sad” (Serbia). The Society has been established in 2004 and it assembles the experts in natural protection, who are engaged there on voluntary basis. Born in Sombor (Serbia, province Vojvodina), Sonja holds Serbian and Slovak citizenship. She is fluent in Serbian, Slovak and speaks English and French, as well. She loves traveling, which helps to recognize different cultures and she is also a big fun of diving sports. |
