Summary

Cordula is the Early Stage Researcher based at St. István Univerity, Gödöllö. Her task centres on cost social dynamics of multi-level biodiversity governance in Hungary, focusing on national parks. Cordula's interest lies in possible solutions for conflicts in nature protection, the distribution of natural resources, and conservation of agro-biodiversity. Cordula's field of academic expertise is natural science; she also has a good knowledge of social sciences.

Cordula holds a Diploma in Biology (2006, Universität Regensburg), with a major in Botany and minors in Zoology, Cell- and Developmental Biology, and History of Science. She also studied in Padua (Italy), where she completed courses in Anthropology, Applied Ecology and Biogeography. Her thesis topic was “The influence of the Pigment Dispersing Factor on the molecular oscillation of the PERIOD protein in different rhythm-mutants of Drosophila melanogaster”.

In 2006 Cordula worked as a volunteer at the Sustainable Development Department of FAO in Rome, where she gathered experience about international organizations and their work. By joining the GIAHS initiative (“Globally Important Agriculture Heritage Systems”) she grew familiar with issues of social-ecological systems, with their rich biological and cultural diversity, and with difficult management and complex governance structures.

Cordula holds a German citizenship, she has spent several months in the USA (Portland, OR) and Italy (Siena, Padua, Rome) and is fluent in four languages (German, English, Italian and French), and is learning Hungarian.
